The British Association of the Alpes Maritimes is established under the French 1901 law for "not-for-profit" Associations. It is run solely by volunteers and its object is to assist British residents in (and visitors to) the Alpes Maritimes, providing help to those new to the area and for those who encounter unexpected problems such as illness, accidents, bereavement or financial difficulties. We have not applied for "utilité publique" status, mainly because the object of the Association is too narrow to allow such application. One of the effects of this, is that donations to the Association are not tax deductible in France.
The Head Office of the Association is registered at the Grange in Mouans Sartoux, at SunnyBank's community centre facility next to the Victoria retirement home.
We are a member of BritishinFrance, and have a privileged relationship with the British Consulate in Marseille.
Membership is open to anyone, aged 18 or over, whatever their nationality. The annual subscription is 20€ for a single membership and 32€ for a couple. We also have a student membership rate at €10. The membership fee covers administrative costs. Any donations towards community support and welfare activities are gratefully received.
A good way to find out more about the British Association is to come to one of the monthly lunches, or a social event where prospective members will be warmly welcomed.
