What we do…

Today – with branches in Menton, Nice, Cannes and the Var, the British Association upholds, promotes and communicates the interests of its members, their families, friends and visitors in these areas and provides advice and help to those in need, hardship and financial distress.

It also organizes casual informal get-togethers, functions and entertainment for members, friends and visitors of all age groups.

Linked to this, the British Association Branch Committees are constantly on the lookout for volunteers and helpers to assist those in need, to identify those in the community who need assistance – to visit and assist the elderly folk, especially those who are housebound, in hospital, isolated and on their own and generally – to lend a helping hand to those in need, hardship or financial distress.

In addition to helping the elderly, there are increasing requests for help from the younger generation who are out of work and / or homeless, or who are handicapped, many of whom are either far from their families or have no families at all. We advise and help them over problems with the French administration and work closely with the local French “Assistantes Sociales”.

If you are in such a position, or know of someone who is, contact us at the British Association Branch closest to you. Contact telephone numbers are on the reverse side of this leaflet. Details of circumstances will be asked for, and these of course are treated confidentially. In relation to these cases the British Association is also able to give information about other sources of assistance.
